Doug Humphreys is proud to be entering his 17th year as Principal at Eagle Ridge Elementary. With over two decades of experience in education, Doug remains deeply committed to creating a school environment where every student is supported, challenged, and empowered to grow.
Doug began his career at Bear Canyon Elementary, teaching Special Education and later third grade. He went on to serve as Assistant Principal at Pine Lane Elementary for three years before stepping into the principal role at Eagle Ridge, where he has led with passion and purpose ever since.
A graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana—where he also played rugby—Doug earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado. Go Buffs!
What Doug values most about Eagle Ridge is the strong, caring community—educators, families, and students all working together to do what’s best for kids. That shared commitment creates a positive and enriching environment where meaningful learning can thrive.
This school year, Doug is especially excited about the focus on deeper-level questioning and critical thinking across all grade levels. These efforts will help students become more thoughtful, curious, and engaged learners—skills that are essential for success in school and beyond.
Outside of school, Doug enjoys camping, fly fishing, and spending time with his family. He and his wife have two sons: their oldest, 20, is currently training to become a commercial pilot, and their youngest, 16, is in high school with aspirations of becoming a firefighter.
Doug is looking forward to another incredible year at Eagle Ridge, filled with growth, connection, and impactful learning experiences.
