All About Mrs. Shock

Welcome to third grade! I am very excited for this year and starting my 6th year at Eagle Ridge Elementary. Before moving to Eagle Ridge I taught at Coyote Creek Elementary, in Highlands Ranch, for 12 years. During my 19 years of teaching,  I have taught second grade for one year, third grade for 9 years, 5th grade for 4 years, and first grade for 4 years. A few years ago, I was honored to receive the Elementary Educator of the Year award and my previous teammates and I received the Pioneers in Education award. I have learned through my experience how much I love 3rd grade.

Here is a little information about myself...

I am a Colorado native and my entire family live around Denver so we see each other a lot.

Before teaching I attended the University of Michigan. After four amazing years there I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. During my first few years of teaching I obtained a masters degree in Technology in Education and became a Digital Educator in the district. I am currently a co-leader of the schools Healthy Schools team and Student Leadership.

My husband, Andrew, and I live in Lone Tree with our dog, Lakes, 14 year old daughter, Ellie, 11 year old Alexandra (we call her Alex), and 9 year old, Lily. Two of them attend Eagle Ridge. The girls keep us busy but we love all the excitement.  Andrew is from Ohio, which means a lot of trips there to visit his family. We enjoy skiing, traveling, hiking, and getting together with friends and family. I hope you are as excited as I am about all the learning and fun adventures we'll have in third grade!

About my teaching:

I believe that school should be fun and students should learn without realizing that is what they are doing. Below are a few videos that should help you get a better understanding.
